The Ravens are sure to come out with energy, anticipation and excitement for the season opener against Westshore on Sun,, May 1st, 3:30 p.m. at Rod Brind’ Amour Arena. There’s no doubt the Bears and Ravens will provide a fast paced, action packed game to start the regular season.

Campbell River’s Lindsay McLoughlin is Vancouver Island University’s Mariner athlete of the year for the second time. McLoughlin, a volleyball player who won the award in 2008 when the Mariners won the nationals, accepted the award at the Mariner’s awards banquet on April 20.

Local race car driver opened his season, south of the border, in fine fashion. Campbell Riverite Chris Beaulieu was tops in the field last Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington along with two other racers – Cory Sweatman and Henry VanDam.

The Campbell River Minor Lacrosse Subway PeeWee B Ravens had a very successful and quite interesting series of games on the weekend. The team swept a double-header against the Victoria-Esquimalt Eagles last Saturday. The Ravens beat the Eagles in the first game and won the second game by forfeit due to some very questionable decisions by non-players.
