Patrick’s enthusiasm is inspiring

As part of an ongoing series, the Mirror introduces another one of our wonderful Special Olympians

Patrick Jules

Patrick Jules is a Special Olympian who’s smile is known for melting icebergs.

Maureen Hunter, Campbell River Special Olympics coordinator, said he is one of the most enthusiastic athletes on the team. Not only is he always willing and interested in playing, he is also very helpful to the coaches, she said.

Jules swims as well as plays baseball and floor hockey, but Hunter said he shines the most in basketball.

“I try the best I can,” Jules said.

Through Special Olympics, Jules has had the chance to travel to places he may not have been able to otherwise. Hunter figures that a highlight for him was seeing a Canucks game.

Jules’ enthusiasm is contagious, and Hunter said he often helps out the younger athletes with drills.

Jules will be caddying at the upcoming Howie Meeker Golf Classic, and he is looking forward to it.

“It’s going to be fun,” he said.
