For the first time ever, a Canadian team from B.C. captured the National Title in the Men’s Open Team 8-Ball division at the 2014 American Cue Sports National 8-Ball Championships.
The event was held at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas on May 10-16. The team, Magic Moments, consisted of Campbell River players James Brown, Ron Douglas, Christie Tipper, and Werner Ostwald, as well as Courtenay player – Rob Horton – and Powell River player Clay Gloslee.
In both the A-Side Final and the Championship Final the score was tied 12-12, so a 25th and final game needed to be played to determine a Champion.
Team Captain Werner Ostwald said that the team name, Magic Moments, and the spirit behind it played a major role in the victorious outcome.
