The hosts kept most of the medals for themselves at the Campbell River Judo

Club’s tournament last Saturday at the Robron gymnasium.

The local club captured a total of 21 medals as 90 people competed.

Visiting clubs came from Vancouver, Victoria, Langford, Mill Bay, Nanaimo and Powell River.

“For many of the Campbell River members, it was their first tournament,” said head coach Darcy Yule. “The results showed the club instructors that over the past five months of practice the kids are really are learning what we have been teaching.”

Gold medals were won by youth members Jordann Warner, Jamiliya Wellard, Thomas Connor, Sawyer Van Lieshaet, Anthony Henry, Jeff Lindenbach, Telisa Puamau, and adults Jason Wellard, and instructor Jeremy Lenz.

Silver medals went to Jacob Doherty, Cole Percevault, Luke McKinnon, Quinn Stewardson and Wyatt Huggins.

Bronze medals were won by Sarah Cramb, Owen Wellard, Raimund Assu, Jeff Lindenbach, Haley Henry, Sabastian La Fleur and Grant Vadeboncoew (adult).

Huggins continues to impress is instructors with his determination. He lost the gold medal to a very experienced judoka from Victoria.
