The best of the best were on display at Strathcona Gardens last weekend as Campbell River hosted the Midget lacrosse provincial championships.

The tournament kicked off last Wednesday and came to an end Sunday with medal rounds for four different midget divisions.

Campbell River sent its Midget B and Midget C teams with mixed results.

The Midget B Ravens finished the round-robin 2-and-1, with an 8-3 loss to Burnaby to open the tournament but rebounding with a 4-3 win against Quesnel and cruising to a 6-4 victory against Coquitlam.

That record, however, was not good enough and the Ravens were eliminated from the medal round.

Campbell River’s second team, the Midget C Ravens, made it to the bronze medal game despite three losses in the round-robin. The team lost 10-1 to Cowichan Valley in its first game, 5-3 to Juan de Fuca in its second match, and finished out the round-robin with an 11-0 loss to a stellar Cranbrook team.

In the bronze medal game, the Ravens fell behind 3-1 early on and despite a good fight, could not pull even with rival Juan de Fuca and lost the game 6-1.

Cranbrook won the gold medal in the C division with a 10-1 victory over Cowichan Valley. In the B division, Burnaby won gold 6-5 over Vancouver, with the bronze medal going to Prince George which defeated Coquitlam 2 by a score of 5-0. Semiahmoo was the gold medal winner in the Midget A2 division with the silver going to Kelowna and the bronze going to Richmond. In the Midget A1 division, Coquitlam pulled out a 8-4 win over Langley to win gold. Ridge Meadows took the bronze with a 12-4 win over Saanich.
