Campbell River’s Sara von Weber to square up in Muay Thai fight in Calgary

Von Weber will face off against Kyra Jensen on Feb. 17.

Sara von Weber is getting ready to speak with her fists in Calgary.

The local Muay Thai athlete is set to hit the stage at the Mike Miles Challenger Series event, Confrontation, in Calgary on Feb. 17, and is currently attending fight camp at the Heart and Soul Muay Thai in Campbell River.

“I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to compete at the Mike Miles Challenger Series event,” says von Weber, in a press release by Heart and Soul. “This is a pivotal moment in my career, and I am fully invested in giving my all when I step into the ring.”

The press release goes on to say the event is “expected to draw a diverse and enthusiastic audience and promises an evening of electrifying competition and raw athleticism.” It also notes von Weber’s appearance has been eliciting support and excitement from her and Muay Thai supporters in Campbell River.

“Sara’s discipline and dedication to her training have been truly inspiring to witness,” says Coach Sandra Bastian. “She has poured her heart and soul into preparing for this event, and I have no doubt that she will represent Campbell River with pride and determination.”

The “Confrontation” event will be hosted at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, with many more athletes taking part.
