Campbell River Salmon Kings celebrate 50 years at Centennial Pool swim meet

The Campbell River Salmon Kings swim club hosted its annual invitational last weekend

The Campbell River Salmon Kings Swim Club held its Invitational Swim Meet last Saturday and Sunday at Centennial Pool. Events included the 100 and 200 metre, the 50-metre freestyle, the 50-metre butterfly, the 100-metre butterfly, and relays.

The weekend also included a salmon dinner in the park Saturday night. Hundreds of swimmers took part in the meet which attracted kids from Powell River, Sidney, Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley, Oak Bay, Salt Spring Island, Juan de Fuca, and Courtenay.

The Salmon Kings are celebrating 50 years of swimming in 2012.
