Campbell River’s Jakob Yells (centre) continues to lead the Canada Cup mountain bike series.

Jakob Yells from Campbell River raced in Baie St. Paul, Quebec in race #2 of the Canada Cup Cross Country mountain bike series on May 20.

Yells finished second out of a field of 40 racers in the U17 male Cadet Expert category and gained enough points that kept him in the series lead.

Unfortunately, in the third race of the series at Crossroads in Mt. Tremblant, Que., he slipped to second place overall after a 13th place finish. However, his 213 points in the seven-race circuit keeps him solidly entrenched in second place behind 255-point leader Owen Clark.

Erik Ashton of Comox sits in third place with 180 points.
