The Midget Nyrstar Ravens had another two game weekend last weekend.

Saturday’s home game against the Oceanside Sharks starts off a little rough for the Ravens, then Jas Thiara feeds a pass to Kenny Sweet who quick sticks the ball and scores in the second period. Just a few minutes later the fans are in for a treat as Taylor Lysne intercepts a Sharks pass and tears off down the floor on a breakaway, rips one at the Sharks goalie but no goal is scored.

Just minutes later Wyatt Surgenor makes a sick pass to Peter Van Gemeren Mcnutt who cranks the ball in the net and scores. In the third period Taylor Lysne comes alive again and throws a dime to Bailey Demuth who sneaks one passed the Sharks goalie and scores. The game finishes with the Nyrstar Ravens suffering a 14-3 loss to the Oceanside Sharks.

Sunday’s away game against the Saanich Tigers was a stick breaking day. Five of the Midget Ravens left the game with broken sticks. The Ravens’ first and only goal was a sight to behold.

On a power play, Matt Borg steals the ball from Saanich, cranks a pass to Jas Thiara who fires a cannon at the Tigers goalie and scores with 27 seconds left in the first. Ravens take a 6-1 loss against the Saanich Tigers.

The Ravens have an away game Saturday June 16 at 4 p.m. against Cowichan and if you are looking for something to do on Sunday come on out to the Strathcona Gardens and cheer on our Midget Ravens at 1:30 p.m.
