Campbell River gymnasts combined for 43 medals and numerous ribbons at a recent competition.

The Campbell River Gymnastics Club combined for 43 medals at their first competition of the season.

Caitlyn Johnson won a choreography award for her floor routine and the girls came away with tons of ribbons from the Duncan competition.

This was the first ever competition for all the level one athletes except for one.

In the second sub division Brianna Pollock placed third on vault and bars, won the gold on the beam with one of the only backwalkovers on the beam, and won the bronze in the all around. Jasmine Duguay and Aysha Guenther represented the club in the level one tyro division. Duguay captured the gold on the vault with a silver medal on the bars. Guenther had a fifth place finish on the bars, and received eighth place ribbons on both beam and floor.

Next to compete were the Level two athletes. Janika Scriba captured the gold on the vault, two silver medals on bars and beam and won the bronze medal for the all around. Cassidy Bodnar won the bronze on both vault and floor.

Mackenzie Henderson was the lone level 2 tyro winning the silver medal in the all around competition.

In the level 2 open category, the local club had a 1-2 finish in the all around competition with Ashlyn Ouellette and Katie Lund. Ouellette won the gold all around and on the vault with silver medals on bars, beam and floor. Lund captured the silver in the all around competition winning the gold on bars, beam and floor and the bronze medal on the vault. Rebecca Tazumi won the gold for the all around competition in the level 3 tryo division.

Three girls competed in the level 3 open division. Kyra Boulding lead the way with gold in the all around competition, Marika Sarton finished in sixth and Melissa MacAdam captured gold on vault.

Tiffany Sharkie competed in the level 4 open division finishing with a bronze medal in the all around.
