Many Campbell Riverites experiencing despoliation of health care: Letter

web1_letters-typing-group

It was nice to see your paper take an interest and publish an article on the recent presentation by two doctors on the subject of the HPOA (Health Professions and Occupations Act), Bill 36, to city council.

It is an issue I have a vested interest in. I am one of the many Campbell River citizens without a doctor. I am well behind in both mammogram and colon screenings as they will not be provided without a family Doctor to send results to.

I am privy to much of our failing health care system. In my direct family I have four active nurses and one retired nurse and know many others. They tell many stories of difficult and even dangerous working conditions.

I know many Campbell Riverites are experiencing the despoliation of our health care. We can not afford to be losing (scaring away) Any of our health care workers.

I was unable to attend the city council meeting in person but did watch it online and must mention that I found your statement “chambers became a forum for bashing the province’s Health Professions and Occupations Act” was rather hyperbolic.

The planned TownHall meeting (which I am involved in - and surprised to see reported as a BC Rising Event as that would be news to me) Is a forum for information exchange to and from all walks of life, political views and occupations as our health and wellness are a common cause and cross all boundaries.

I hope you continue to follow and support us, your fellow community members, as we strive to improve life for all.
