I absolutely agree with this article.
I think the planners of the new hospital are very short sighted if they think their plan will meet the needs of Campbell River in the future when we can’t meet the needs now.
We know our requirements are going to increase, especially with our aging population.
In addition, there is a critical need for at least four critical care/emergency mental health beds.
A recent coroner’s report asked for two dedicated youth mental health beds yet there are none in the plan.
We need to speak out and demand that our community’s future needs are taken into consideration and not just have lip service paid.
A lot of money is going to be spent, let’s spend it wisely so that we won’t realize in a few years that we made expensive mistakes - not just in monetary but also in human terms.
