STEVENS (Wilma) Ruth

(Wilma) Ruth Stevens, born on February 2nd, 1920 in Swift Current, SK, passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2007 at the Sunshine Lodge, Campbell River, BC. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Philip and two sisters, Mary and Grace. Ruth was the proud mother of five children: Rod (Carol), Esther Lindberg, Naomi Bauman, David (Carol) and Daniel (Polly); eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She leaves to mourn, five sisters: Esther Cooke, Dora (Bud) Merrit, Sally Paulgaard and Mildred LeGood; many nieces, nephews and her wonderful friend of the last three years, Murray Fulton.

Apart from her family, the highlights of Ruth’s life were holding Bible clubs for children, Mother’s Coffee Hour for young mothers and spending a year in Ethiopia with Philip, David and Dan doing famine relief.

A Graveside Service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Friday, December 14th, 2007 at 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:30 PM at Central Baptist Chapel, 833 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC. If friends so desire, donations in Memory of Ruth may be made to the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, designated to the Stevens Legacy of Hope – Ethiopia Project.
