It is with great sadness the Manson family announces the passing of Wilfred J.M. Manson; grandson of Cortes Island Pioneer, beloved brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Born in Vancouver, Wilf mostly grew up as a child in the Kitsalano area of Vancouver. As a teen, he was raised on Hernando and Cortes Islands and worked as a deckhand, engineer, and logger with his father, mother and sister not far off. He met his wife Trudy in 1953 and enjoyed many wonderful times sailing at the Kitsalano Yacht Club. Wilf and Trudy were married in 1957 and settled in North Vancouver when the boys came along in 1960 and ‘61. Wilf worked at Imperial Oil, briefly as a steveadore and joined BC Tel in 1957 where he worked for 39 years. Wilf, Trudy and the boys moved to Campbell River in 1970 and enjoyed many hours boating, camping and fishing all over Vancouver Island. Retiring in 1986, Wilf and Trudy cruised, travelled, camped and made many friends. In 2015, having lost Trudy, Wilf moved into Berwick By the Sea and enjoyed several enjoyable months with his new friends.

Wilf is survived by sister Dorothy, sons Mike (Glennis) and Ross (Joy), grandchildren Breanne (Ryan), Amy, Colin and Alyssa, great-grandchildren Navi and Taylor. Nieces Norma (Kevin) and Donna (Dale) were special to him as well.
