Vince passed away after a short illness with his family by his side on Monday August 2nd, 2004, at the age of 87 years. He is predeceased by his son Ron and is survived by his loving wife Lillian of 64 years, sons Gary (Lynne), Allan (Delores), Glen (Lynda), Ray and daughters Nancy (Jack), Gail (Doug). He also has 23 grand children, 19 great grand children, and 2 great great grand children, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Vince was a member of the YMCA in Saskatoon and was an avid swimmer. He was the Provincial Champion in Saskatchewan for the 3-mile swim in 1936 and 1937. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 and served until 1945.

He married Lillian in 1940 and after the war he moved back to Saskatoon and worked for the Postal Service. He transferred to Campbell River in 1968 and worked until his retirement.

He spent his retirement traveling, golfing, fishing, gardening and also enjoyed spending time with his children and grand children.

A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday August 7th. at 1pm at Sutton’s Funeral Chapel, 502 South Dogwood Street, followed by a reception at the Elks Hall.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the hospital and Dr. Wood and Dr. Smit for the care of Vince.
