September 1, 1937 - August 17, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Silke Taylor on August 17, 2019 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Kiel Germany, Silke came to Canada at age 24 with 3 small children and ended up in Campbell River in 1966. It was here that she met her future husband, Ken Taylor, and his 3 young children.
After retiring from BC Tel, Silke and Ken spent many years travelling to Arizona for the winters. She loved camping, knitting, the casino, and most of all Silke loved spending time with her large extended family. When you stopped by to visit with Silke and Ken, she was always able to update you on what the rest of the family was up to and of course a cup of coffee and a cookie.
Silke is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ken, and children Debra {Hal}, Peter {Marla}, Doug, Uwe {Tracy}, Nancy and Sheryl. Grandchildren Justin, Jennifer, Jamie {Laura}, Stacey {Jeff}, Darcy, Jody {Craig}, Christina and Jewelly. Great grandchildren Kalowna, McKenna, Brandon, Carter, Ryder, Keegan, Olivia and Colton.
Silke is predeceased by her parents Karl and Katie, her brother Klaus, and her sons Hans Hopf and Ken {Jack} Taylor.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Campbell River hospital. As per her wishes there will be no service and in lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
