Samuel John
Of Quadra Island has passed away at the young age of 92. This great man has left an impact on all who knew him. He was a veteran of WWII who received the Meritorious Service Award from Branch 154 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He founded Hooleyville and created the Salmon Enhancement Society on Quadra and built the "Grand Hooley Dam".
For many years he was the Comox-Strathcona Regional Director, where he did great service to the community. Sam was a builder and a creator who constructed over 30 homes on Quadra Island, and was famous for building only the finest of boats. He was a remarkable, kind and generous person who was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his extensive knowledge to those in need.
Sam was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
