Ruth D. Sarich

March 19, 2004

Sarich,

Ruth D.

Born on March 27, 1926 passed away at home with her family by her side on March 19, 2004. All who knew Ruth would agree she was a spirited lady with a personality to match. she loved animals, in particular her cats, Abby and Peaches, both affectionate orphans that she brought home from the SPCA. She loved her garden and spent many hours there with family, friends and their pets. Ruth was also an avid fan of the New York Times Crossword puzzle and the game of Scrabble, which she said cleared the cob webs from the brain. Her favorite form of travel was cruising on the big ships in the company of fun-loving people. Ruth’s volunteer work with the Women’s Auxiliary to the Campbell River General Hospital spanned 39 years beginning in 1965. She was the convener of the Hospital Thrift Shop from 1978 to 1988 and was awarded a life membership in 1987 for the many years of dedication.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Tony, in 2000 and is survived by her sister and best friend Carol Zoffmann (Sven), Campbell River BC., sister Betty Tucker (Joseph), Sechelt, BC., sister Lois DeCook, Coquitlam BC and brother Edward Hoppe (Eleanor), Burnaby, BC. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, especially Susan Thokle (Glenn) and their children Angie and Ryan who regarded “Auntie Ruth” as a mother and grandmother.

Her family, friends and neighbours will agree that Ruth “Did It My Way” and we will miss her greatly and always treasure the memories.

A Special thank you to Dr. Meckin, all the nurses and the Home Support team for their kindness. At Ruth’s request there will be no service held. In lieu of flowers, donations will be greatly appreciated by the Campbell River General Hospital Foundation.
