Russ passed away peacefully in Campbell River Hospital with his family by his side, including his loving wife Helen of 64 years and children Richard (Coleen), Steven (Sue), Lucille and Gordon (Alicia), along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Russ’ life will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Quadra Island Bible Church, followed by a graveside service at 3:30 at Quadra Island Cemetery. A reception will follow back at the church for friends, family and the community to share memories and fellowship. Camp Homewood bus will meet the 12:30 and 1:30 ferries.
For many, their memories of Russ will come through his service of 27 years at Camp Homewood, as “Uncle Russ” who drove the school bus for almost 15 years and, as a Quadra farmer for more than 60 years, he was known as “the man with the cows”.
