Richard John 'Jack' Rydeen

April 24, 2020

March 2, 1932 - April 24, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jack Rydeen at his home in Berwick.
Dad will forever be remembered and missed by the love of his life, wife of 66 years, Joan and son Paul (Heather), daughter Kathryn (Brian), grandsons Travis and Brandon, sister Carolyn (Glen), nieces and nephews.
He joins his parents, daughter Janet, son Stephen and brother Myles.
Dad was the oldest of three; born in Duncan to Richard Edward and Doris Rydeen.
Dad began in the Forest Industry at 17, driving logging trucks and building roads.
Dad married his love, Joan; a school teacher, in 1954. Together they lived and worked across the island. In the 70's Dad took a job in management with Weldwood in Vancouver.
Fondest family memories include raising animals for 8 years on a hobby farm in Surrey. In the late 70's we returned to the island where Dad completed his 42 year career in Campbell River. Great weekends were spent boating with family and friends.
Dad dedicated himself to everything he did. He enjoyed the outdoors; yard work, rock hounding, hunting, fishing and in retirement, travel and golf. Dad's carpentry skills and love of wood work lent to his hobby of wood turning/segmenting in later years. Dad loved to read and loved his family.
There will be a family gathering at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
