In Loving Memory ~

Percy Ross Whitmore of Campbell River, passed away on March 9, 2024 after a long full happy life. He was 96. Percy was born on April 21, 1927 in Riverhurst SK and spent most of his childhood years between Saskatchewan and Vancouver.

In 1951, Percy married his childhood sweetheart Joan and moved from Vancouver to Campbell River where Percy built their first house on Birch St. and later had Whitmore Lane named after them which ran along side their house.

In 1960 Percy and Joan moved to a new home on the corner of 4th and Alder Street where they lived for many years and raised their two children Grant and Jan. As a family they spent many years enjoying boating, fishing and exploring the inlets in our area. Percy was a family man thru and thru.

For most of his career Percy worked as a papermaker at the Mill in Campbell River. After retiring Percy spent his time continuing to enjoy boating as well as woodworking and golfing.

Percy was predeceased by his loving wife Joan in 1996. At 84 he sold his house and moved into a cottage on his daughter Jans property where he continued to live for the rest of his days. During this time he enjoyed having his family close by.

He also enjoyed the companionship of his girlfriend Carol, doing activities together like camping, square dancing and bowling.

He is survived by his son Grant, daughter-in-law Diana, daughter Jan, son-in-law Mike, Grandchildren Gibson, Carly, Ross, and Erin as well as his Great-Grandchildren Beau, Jayce, Lion and Marie.

Percy would liven up every room he walked into with his big personality and jokes. We will all remember his many funny quotes and life lessons he would regularly share with us all. He always supported his family whether it was helping to build, paint or just any project we had on the go.

Our hearts are full of countless wonderful memories and he will live on from generation to generation in the tales we will share of him.

There will be no official public service held. The immediate family will honor Percy privately. In lieu of flowers we ask that you give your own family members a hug and tell them how much you love them.
