May Hrechuk passed away on March 29, 2017 at 9:50am, after a brief illness. Born in Balsam Bay, Manitoba on May 10,1922, May grew up in several different areas of Manitoba where she met and married Walter Hrechuk. Together they moved frequently across Canada as he was in the RCAF. May worked as a cook in the mess halls while raising their family. Finally settling down in Campbell River in 1974, May was very involved in the community. She belonged to many clubs; the Royal Canadian Legion, C.R. Curling Club, Old Age Pensioners, Lions, I.O.F. and the Eagles Seniors Olympics.
Predeceased by husband Walter Hrechuk, sisters Joyce Collins and Carol Spence, brother Bill Monkman, and daughter Beverly Zambrano.
Survived by sister Lorna (Ron) Alfonso, daughter Valerie (Peter Sr.) Lazarou and Judy Dunn, son Ed (Gladys) Hrechuk as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00pm at Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral, 502 S. Dogwood St Campbell River BC.
