Madelene Louise WARREN

November 15, 2006

WARREN,

Madelene Louise

September 30, 1926 –November 15, 2006

Madelene died peacefully on November 15, 2006, with her husband and two daughters by her side.

Madelene was born on September 30, 1926, in North Battleford Saskatchewan.

She was predeceased by her parents Marie and Harold Mills, sisters Jean Mills and Scottie Drean, and brothers Frank and Bernard.

She is survived by her loving husband and fishing buddy of over 58 years, Bill.  Also survived by her sister Irma Nelson, daughters Heather Gionet and Evelyn Smith, grandchildren Nikki Stewart (Andy), Matt Gionet (Melanie), Emerson Smith, and great-grandchildren, Dakota Kroetsch (Gionet), Brody Stewart and Kate Madelene Ruth Stewart, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Madelene was known for her great sense of humour and many were surprised by this sedate lady’s quick wit. She loved to fish and was known on many occasions to out-fish her husband Bill.

She enjoyed traveling and had been to China, South Africa, South America, the Bahamas, Hawaii and Mexico.  Madelene volunteered for several years at Yucalta Lodge. She worked for a few years as a marriage commissioner and had the honour of officiating at the first wedding on the Discovery Pier. However, the job she liked and did best was taking care of her family.

Madelene was a quiet and gentle woman who was guided by her deep faith in God. She was a member of the Church of the Way for many years. She was strong willed and passionate about the things she believed in.

She was very proud of her grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren.  She was always interested in our lives, always there to listen to our problems and took great pleasure in hearing of our successes.

Her physical presence is profoundly missed, but her spirit will shroud us and comfort us until we meet again.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 25th, at the Church of the Way in Campbell River (451 7th Ave), at  2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Lung Association, 2675 Oak St., Vancouver, BC V6H 2K2 in memory of Madelene Warren.
