Lorne Ernest
Passed away March 20, 2002. Lorne was born April 4, 1915. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris of Campbell River; his children Larry (Karen), Gwen(Michael) of Kitimat, Roger(Carrie), Jean(Dave) of Port Alberni and Aunt Alice Ritchie(Sidney). He was a proud and caring grandfather and great grandfather to Leah, Kelly, Robb, Christie, Flora, Heather, Jesse, Kirsten, Victoria and Brandon.
After his schooling in Victoria, he spent four years in the RCEME. His career as a LCB vendor began in Greenwood, BC but eventually moved him to Campbell River where he worked until his retirement in 1979. During his early years in Campbell River, he enjoyed coaching basketball and gymnastics. His love of the outdoors was shared with his children on hikes to Forbidden Plateau, Strathcona Park and Garbaldi.
Well known as a rhodo fanatic, he truly loved life with interests in fine arts, cuisine and music. His true passions were the simple joys in life, nature and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 1:30p.m. in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 228 South Dogwood Street, Campbell River, BC. In lieu of flowers, Lorne would be happiest if you took time to feed the wild birds, especially when it snows.
