Larry Widen

Sadly we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Larry Widen on August 13th. He is survived by Sandy, his wife of 49 years, children Kirsten of Surrey and Drew (Sherry) of Abbotsford, grandchildren Keiffer and Danielle of Abbotsford and Linnea of Surrey, sisters Audrey Rennie of Sidney and Arlene Worsfold of Kelowna and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Sonny and sisters Annette Bowen and Alice Martin.

Larry was a wonderful, bright, articulate, hard-working and caring leader who was active in the labour movement and the NDP. He was also a member of the Kinsmen and K-40. He worked at Elk Falls mill in Campbell River for many years before joining the Vancouver office of the CLC in 1974. He will be dearly missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 28th at the Willow Point Hall, 2165 South Island Highway, Campbell River, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stephen Lewis Foundation or a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend our thanks to all those who assisted at the scene by administering CPR, calling 911 and offering comfort.
