Ken Arthur CALWELL

Ken Arthur

April 26, 1945 – November 04, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandpa and friend, Kenneth Arthur Calwell. Ken died at home on November 4th 2008 at 9.38 p.m. with his wife and daughters by his side.

Ken was born in Comox on April 26th 1945 to Ruby Roma (Haines) and Joseph Arthur Calwell. He grew up on Quadra Island and lived most of his life in Campbell River. He worked for BC Hydro for 32 years as a journeyman lineman until his early retirement in Spring 1998 due to the onset of prostate cancer.

Ken was an avid fisherman, hunter, nature (and cat) lover. He loved the outdoors, whether it was walking, working or watching. Ken was a strong man with a big heart. He was a hard worker and loyal friend and will be missed.

Ken was pre-deceased by his Mom, Dad, infant daughter Carrie Lee, Mother-in-law and his nephew Danny. He is survived by his true love, his wife of 40 years, Marion (LeMoal) and his daughters Ronda (Kevin) Seeley and Megan (Chris Erichsen). He will be irreplaceable in the lives of his granddaughters Ava & Brynn (Seeley) and Saylor (Erichsen). He is also survived by his sisters Barbara and Lenore. He will be greatly missed by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, hunting buddies and good friends.

Please join the family in remembering Ken on Saturday, November 8th 2008 from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. for an informal gathering of memories at Oyster Bay Resort, 4357 S. Island Highway, Campbell River.

Instead of flowers please plant a tree or feed the birds. Remind a loved one to have a prostate exam. If desired, donations may be made to the BC Children’s Hospital, SPCA or BC Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the Courtenay home care nurses, especially Sandy, Lynn and Barb. Special thanks to Nurse Kelly, Dr. Veerapen, Pharmacist Mark, the staff at the Quinsam Medical Clinic, the nurses at the daycare unit at the Hospital and friends and neighbours for their support in the final weeks.
