It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend June.
She will be greatly missed by her loving son Dick Leahy of Campbell River, her daughters Susan Lacourciere (Art) of Kamloops B.C., and Anne Johnstone (Mark) of Campbell River. Also left behind are her wonderful grandchildren, Genny, Erin, Alicia, Shawn, Cody, and Sam. Her beloved husband, Bill, predeceased her in 1975.
Mom was born in Calgary and moved to Victoria when she was 2. She married Dad, the love of her life, on November 19, 1938, and they spent their married years in Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo and then settled in Campbell River in 1970. She felt blessed to have raised her family on the Island she loved so much.
Mom was a photojournalist in Nanaimo for many years. She enjoyed travelling and most of all, her garden.
We would like to thank the staff at Glacier View Lodge, Mom’s home away from home, for the last 4 years, for the incredible care they gave her. We will forever be grateful for the love and respect that they showed her everyday.
Mom dearly loved a “Gathering”, so we will celebrate her life with an open house on Saturday, September 2nd, at the home of Mark and Anne Johnstone, 2665 Soderholm Road, in Campbell River. Come and join us between 1 and 4 o’clock for refreshments and stories. Mom’s ashes will be interned with Dad’s at Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria.
