RANSOM

James Bruce

1921 - 2008

After 87 years of a full life and a short illness Jim Bruce passed away at Campbell River Hospital. A more gentle, peaceful and patient man would be difficult to find.

Jim grew up in rural Alberta and served his country with The Edmonton Regiment in W.W. II. He met Leona in Calgary and they were married in 1943. After the war, they moved to Vancouver Island where Jim worked in the forest industry. In 1952 the family moved to Powell River and Jim spent 30 years working at the pulp mill. After retirement he and Leona moved to Campbell River to be closer to family. Jim loved all his family (he never forgot a birthday or anniversary), loved travelling with Leona, anything Scottish, camping at Kitty Coleman Beach and cheering on the Canucks and the Blue Jays.

Jim is survived by Leona, his wife of 65 years, Son Doug and Wife Carole, Daughter Pat of Sooke, Grandson Jason and wife Krista, Great Granddaughter Baby Ayla, all of Campbell River. Also left are four sisters and many nieces and nephews and many friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 28th at 1:00 p.m. at the Campbell River United Church. No flowers by request but donations can be made to B.C. Children’s Hospital.

May you go in peace dad.
