Herbert John (Bert) Morgan,

September 2, 2003

Morgan,

Herbert John (Bert)

Passed away peacefully, September 2, 2003 at St. Josephs Hospital in comox, BC.

He was born March 11, 1909 in Glenemma BC. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, of 58 years, also his daughter Jeanette(Walter) and sister Olive.

He will be greatly missed by his only surviving sister Nellie (Richmond).

Left to mourn are his son Bob (Wendy), daughters Joan (Rudy) & Rene (Andy) grandchildren, Michelle, Dwayne, Shaun, Kathy, Laurie & Mike, Todd & Jennifer, Shelly, Jason, Chris & Brian. Great grandchildren Michael & Courtney.

Fondly remembered by the many nieces and nephews and great friends that touched his life. Bert worked, when he was younger in many logging camps in the lower mainland and Vancouver Island driving truck and keeping them running. From Kaatz BC to Lasquitti, Texada, Great Central Lake, Nanaoose, Port Alberni, Furry Creek, and then to Van West logging in Royston which he finally purchased. This was going to be where he retired, but when it came time he just couldn’t face it and went back to work. Here he not only found a love for work & rock hounding but stock car racing. Having a taste of the big time was the trip of a lifetime he said. Travel was in his blood, that motor home was always packed and ready to go. His love of motor cycles since 1929 was always with him & he even went to Sturgis one year with a group of friends. He rode for many years and made many trips, sleeping on the side of the road with a piece of string to his bike and sleeping in his tent. He stopped riding when he was close to 87. It was said by many “He was a gentle man.”

Thank you to the nursing staff at St. Josephs Hospital and to Vern and special thanks to Dr. Tancon and Dr. Lundy.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Canadian cancer Society or to St. Josephs Hospital Foundation. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the Fallen Alders community Hall on the Royston/Cumberland Road on Sunday, September 14, 2003 from 12:30-4:30
