With very sad hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Harry James Vanstone, on June 29, 2014.

Harry was born April 7, 1945 in Campbell River, B.C. to Alfred & Ramona Vanstone. He was raised in Campbell River and joined the Army to see the world. While stationed in Chilliwack, B.C., he met and married Judy Larson. They moved back to Campbell River. He worked for six years for the Goodyear Store in Campbellton. In 1973, they moved to the Canfor logging camp of Nimpkish with their first daughter Mary followed by Sara and Anna. When the camp shut down, they moved into Port McNeill. Kyla, the first granddaughter, arrived in 1995, followed by Kirsti in 2000. They added a sparkle to his eyes and a joy to his heart. For nine years he enjoyed mastering computers (thanks Mikey:), deck building, bird watching and nothing pleased him more then getting out in his canoe with his cameras and fishing rod or spending time with all his girls. He explored many of the Ontario back roads and made two trips to the East Coast.

He will be forever missed by his wife of 49 years, 7 months. Daughters Mary (Marc) Sawan, Sara Vanstone (Pat Stewart) and Anna Vanstone; grandchildren Kyla Arnett, Kirsti Orpana, Brooke Sawan, Katie & Callum Stewart; siblings brother Noel (Arlette) Vanstone of Campbell River, B.C. and sister Kathryn (Mike) Clark of West Vancouver, many nieces and nephews who loved the humorous side of Uncle Harry as well as the many wonderful friends he made along life’s journey.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to any charity of your choice will be lovely. We will all miss your humor and love of music, you’re gone… but forever remembered. I loved you to the moon and back.
