It is with great sadness and feelings of loss that the family of Gerald Steel announces his passing on January 13th 2011 in Campbell River. Pre-deceased by his wife Jewel in 1992, Gerald in survived by his loving children Jacquie (Darrell), Debbie (Terry), Joanne (Dean), Randy (Michelle), grand-children Alan (Sheryl), Melanie, Jillian (Matt), Malcolm (Lea), Curtis, Chantelle (John), Chelsea, Cassidy, Logan, Campbell and Great-Grandchildren Kacee, Nevaeh and Jackson. Gerald will be also be missed by his special friend Ben Clarke.
The family have lost a strong beloved Father, Husband and Friend who was a kind soul had a great sense of humor and who never complained even to the end.
The family wishes to thank Dean (his caregiver) for giving Dad/Grandpa such a great gift enabling him to remain at home. We also would like to recognize the following Laurel, Peggy and John, the A & W and Tim Horton’s where he loved to go when he was able. The staff at the Hospital, the Rosebowl, Bee-Line Taxi, Ideal Café, Alder Medical and Joe at Merecroft Pharmacy who were so kind to our Father, thank you.
He loved scaling, hunting and fishing, was an avid sailor, flew planes, and was a great pool player.
A Celebration to honor the Life of Gerald Steel will be held at the Maritime Heritage Centre, 621 Island Highway, Campbell River on March 5th 2011 at 1.00PM. Refreshments will be served. If friends so desire you may leave messages of condolence for the family at www.suttonsfuneralhome.com
