In Loving Memory ~

A life well lived. Our patriarch, Fred (Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa) quietly and peacefully left this world, at the age of 98 years old, to join his wife Helen on the very day they met, 76 years ago!

He was born in Manitoba and as a young man joined the military. He soon travelled overseas to contribute to the war effort. He was a very proud Veteran. Upon his return, he and Helen married and relocated to the Campbell River to raise their young family.

He worked many jobs... from fisherman to miner to eventually working as a papermaker at the Elk Falls Mill until his retirement in 1984.

He and Helen were devoted Eagles members and took pride in their community service and life-time membership. From participating in the many Eagles community events to the excursions offered by the Eagles and Eagles on Wheels, he and Helen experienced the best of what our community and points beyond offered. Throughout their marriage, they travelled to Hawaii, across Canada, north to Alaska and south to Yuma and many points in between, all the while making many friends along the way. The countless photo albums left in our care, are a testament to the wonderful adventures they both shared.

Dad is pre-deceased by his wife Helen.

Left with fond memories are his children, Larry (Maureen) and Diana (Jim), 3 grandchildren, their spouses and 5 great grandchildren.

Up until his last few days, he always showed interest in what was happening in his family's lives and wished the best for them.

A special, heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff at Evergreen Seniors Home as well as to Dr. Sutherland for all the care and attention they provided our dad throughout the years. Your compassion did not go unnoticed. Dad always had a twinkle in his eye and an infectious giggle. He loved music and was always up for a quick dance with his favourite care aides. He will be missed.

There will be no service by request. However, in his memory, we encourage you to dance like no one is watching and hug your loved ones at every opportunity.
