August 17, 1915 to May 13, 2007
Dorothy passed away peacefully on "Mother's Day" at the Campbell River District Hospital at the age of 91.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Elmer Collard and Thomas Marcin, her son Robert Collard and her daughter Theresa Marcin.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Collard (Nance), Eleanor Joly (Gerry), Linda Mahood (Shawn), and Peter Marcin and her granchildren, great grandchildren and great-great granchildren.
Mom loved life and loved music and loved to dance, sing, play the piano, acting and sports. She coached many sports teams. She taught school for over 45 years, in Saskatchewan, Alert Bay, Vancouver, and Campbell River, owned a taxi business and a restaurant. She loved to travel, and especially loved Reno, Nevada and the casinos and bingo. She was a tireless volunteer and fund raiser. A wonderful mother, who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Ealges Ladies Auxiliary and REAC, a director of the Lung Association, and member of the Heart and Stroke Association and supported the Rick Hansen spinal cord charities.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 19th, 2007 at Sutton's Funeral Home in Campbell River, followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, Visitations will also be held from 7 to 9PM on Friday, May 18 at Sutton's and at 10AM until the services on Saturday. Burial will be Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at 11AM at Elk Falls Memorial Cemetry for friends and family.
She will be greatly missed. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations to the above charitable organizations.
