Passed away peacefully in the Campbell River Hospital on Monday, March 31, 2003 at the age of 88.


Predeceased by husband Douglas and her sister Eileen.


Survived by her daughter Lynn, foster daughter Maureen and grandchildren Steve and Tammy (Noel) great grandchildren Chris, Brittany, Jordon and Amber. Friends, Yvonne, Bill, Daisy and Margaret, and many other friends at the Ken Forde House.


Ethel was born May 9, 1914 in Winnipeg. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre High School in Winnipeg after which she worked for Eatons in Vancouver and Victoria. She was married to Douglas her second husband for 35 years. They enjoyed traveling together and they also owned a mink ranch in Richmond. She came to the Island and called this her home for many years. Besides caring for her family, Ethel has always had a fondness for those of the feline persuasion. Ethel’s hobbies included crafts, needlepoint, gardening, reading and playing cards.


Friends are invited to attend a Memorial tea at Ken Forde House on Thursday, April 10th, at 2:00 P.M. - 142 Larwood Road. ISLAND FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 103-909 ISLAND HIGHWAY entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Just Cats Society, 3746 South Island Hwy., Campbell River V9H 1M3 would be greatly appreciated.
