DIEDERICHS,
Erna Franziska
1932-2007
Erna passed away suddenly on April 27, 2007.
She is sadly missed by her loving husband of 53 years, Werner (Walter), her son Ron (Sue) Diederichs of Courtenay, daughters Monica (John) Dorner of Fort St. John, Barb Diederichs (Gord Lush) and Jackie Sonney (Ray Faucher) of Campbell River. Oma will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, who were a source of much pride and joy: Carl, Matt and Claire Diederichs; Hailey, Crystal and Jeremy Dorner and Sandy and Rikki Thompson.
Erna met Werner after WW II in Germany. She waited for him at home while he left and established a base in Canada. She then bravely traveled alone by boat across the Atlantic and by train across Canada, all with very limited English skills, to be married to Werner in Vancouver. They left immediately to create a home in the "wilderness" of Ocean Falls, BC. There they met many good friends such as Herman and Moya Frisch, and Ernie and Mary Frisch. They moved to Campbell River in 1960, made many new friends such as Edgar and Gerda Posner and were followed by others from Ocean Falls.
Mum’s house was always a welcome place for their friends and family from near and far and a special place for the children’s friends, especially during the teen years and after.
Cremation as requested. The family will be hosting an open house in The Carriage Room at the Royal Coachman Neighbourhood Pub, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on May 3, 2007.
