Edward Sader

April 25, 1931 - February 7, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Sader on February 7, 2023. Spirited and determined, even at the end, he finished the race surrounded by his four children.
Raised on a remote homestead near Bonnyville, Alberta, Edward learned well the values of hard work, thrift, family, and faith. Venturing north to Yellowknife, N.W.T., he began a career in mining and met his beloved, Hazel. Four children later, they moved to Campbell River, where the family settled, and Edward became the resident manager of Westmin Resources. After retirement, he and Hazel happily engaged in family activities and enjoyed cruises, RV trips, Hawaii escapes, and their annual trek to Yuma, Arizona, as snowbirds.
Edward's interests included tending his gardens and greenhouse, golfing, trying new foods, cooking holiday roasts, planning vacations for the extended family, watching curling, winning at Rook, and maintaining his rental units. At the center of his life was his faith in God. He took on various church roles, participated in summer camps and Bible studies, and supported Christian ministries locally and abroad. Edward's discipline and attention to detail stood out, and his humour and jests made others smile. As a dad and grandpa, his reassuring presence and example will be much remembered and missed.
Edward is survived by his daughters Shelley (Glen) Roberts, Shannon (Jack) Hammond, and Colleen (Gordon) Newman; son Timothy; grandchildren Matthew (Lyndsy), Johnny, Brian (Mary), David (Danielle), James, Rebekah (Tim), Caitlin (Nick), and Jake; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Raymond and sisters Eileen, Helen, and Edith. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel, siblings Leon, Adeline, Arthur, Emil, infant sister Julia, and parents Henry and Hulda.
The Sader family sincerely thanks Dr. Walker and is deeply grateful to the Yucalta Lodge staff for their thoughtful and compassionate care.
A celebration of life service will be held for Edward and Hazel on July 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Discovery Community Church in Campbell River.
