Ed passed away peacefully after a 2 1/2 year stint with cancer. Survived by his loving wife Jean of 50 years. Leaving his three adult children: James (Deborah Vanhooren) and Christine (Derek Patterson) of Ontario and Michael (Sheila Lavigne) of Nanoose Bay, brother John (Lilly passed from cancer in July) of Ontario, nephew Johnny (Anya) and grandchildren Richard, Ocean, David & Daniel.
Born in Leeds, England, Ed came to Toronto at the age of 10 1/2 with his parents and younger brother John. He and Jean moved to Montreal in 1964; 2 weeks after marriage, and lived there for 9 years, raising their 3 children. They moved back to Toronto in 1972, then to Campbell River 1994. They loved the outdoors, fishing, canoeing, camping and spending time with family; Ed was also an avid dart player.
During his employment, he was involved with international freight, brokerage, land, air and ocean freight; in sales as well as management. During their time in Campbell River, they were both subcontracted with Ace Courier for 6 years.
Many thanks to all of the many doctors, nurses, & hospice volunteers for all their care and support; too many to mention. A million thanks to all my children and spouses for all their help. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be welcome. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
