May 21, 1998 - March 28, 2020
It is with unimaginable heartbreak to announce the tragic passing of our son Dustin Kowbel at the age of 21.
Dustin was a passenger in a motor vehicle accident in Campbell River on the morning of March 28th 2020. In the afternoon of that same day Dustin's kind soul left us on his next epic adventure, we held him close as his journey began.
Cherished son of Kevin and Lorraine Kowbel, beloved brother of Drake Kowbel. His heart belonged to his soulmate Marley Blake.
Adored by his Grandmothers: Joan McLean and Grace Kowbel. He is sadly missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Dustin will be fondly remembered by his many friends and coworkers.
Predeceased by Grandparents: Mac and Sheila Kowbel, Sven Donald Likness. Uncles Kurt and Kerry Kowbel, Steven Malley and his Auntie Lin Kowbel.
Dustin had a kind old soul who was extremely independent, infectiously funny and very trusting. He was a Timberline Secondary graduate in 2016. Always ready with a handshake and a warm smile, he quickly found employment in the service industry. Moving into a maintenance worker position with a local developer, Dustin was also working closely with his dad providing his labour at Discovery Park (old paper mill) which he enjoyed immensely. Dustin was planning on attending college for business. He loved animals, traveling and had attended many concerts—gaming and playing his guitar were a passion of his.
An interment will be held on May 1, 2020 1 pm at the old Campbell River cemetery.
Due to Covid-19 the small socially distant gathering will be by invitation only. There is an option for a limited drive past during and after the interment, taking care to be safe.
While we are waiting for a time that we can celebrate Dustin's special life in person together, we are asking everyone to set aside the afternoon on May 1st and do something you enjoy in his memory.
Try to laugh, and play a few of Dustin's favorite songs. Send us a story of the good times you had with him, the memories are precious. And in Dustin's honour, please call someone you love and make sure they know it.
If our love could have saved you, you would have lived forever...
