After a short stay at the Campbell River Hospital, Duane passed away on June 19th.

Survived by his wife Florence (married 69 years); his son, Bruce (Rebecca); daughter Sheila; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren & much loved nieces and nephews. Duane was born, raised and worked in Southeastern Washington State. He served in the U.S. Navy in W.W. II as a Gunnar’s Mate. In 1967 the couple moved to Cortes Island, living there for 30 years until Duane was diagnosed with prostate cancer and moved to Shelton, WA. For the past 3 years, they were fortunate to return to the area that they loved. With his generous nature, infectious smile and abundance of “thank you’s,” Duane was embraced by all!

“Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.”

(part of a quote, left behind by Duane on his fridge)

Special thanks to Dr. Sutherland and all the doctors, nurses & hospital staff that have made a positive difference in Duane’s life!
