October 3, 1934 - October 2, 2016

Born in Port Arthur, Ontario. Don is survived by his wife Janet Rowthorn and predeceased by his first wife Connie (Marshall).

Don owned Floors Decor in Thunder Bay, later becoming a financial advisor and stock broker. Don often said his favourite jobs as a young man were as a lineman in BC and Thunder Bay as well as reading hydro meters in Thunder Bay. Don held a private pilots license which gave him many hours of pleasure.

In 2005 Don moved to Comox where he married his present wife Janet (Stevens). During the last 11 years of his life, Don lived life to the fullest. He was encouraged to follow his love of music and learned to play drums, progressing to several other types of percussion instruments. He also spent many hours learning to play guitar. Music enriched his life and concerts became events much looked forward to.

Their boat the JDMaverick brought them much enjoyment in Deep Bay.

Don and Jan moved in 2012 to Campbell River so they could live by the ocean and watch the marine traffic pass by.

When he married Janet he was welcomed into her family with open arms by her son Greg (Anne) and his children Brenna, Owen and Conlan, daughter Patti and her children Courtney and Chloe and grandsons Daniel (Sheena) and Steven (Ocean) Atchison. Later two great-grandchildren arrived: Daniel and Sheena's son Elijah and Conlan and Brielle's daughter Adaline.

There are many people who need to be thanked for their loving support: Greg and Anne, Dan and Sheena, Patti and our friends Don and Lorna, Bette Allen and her sons Cory and Justin.

Don was a wonderful man and very loving husband who will be forever missed by those who love him.
