February 5, 1944 - April 18, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father on April 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Dan was predeceased by his parents Luther and Susan and his wife Diane. Dan is survived by his partner Dora and his five children: Karen (Ken), Danny (Sharon), Kathy (Eric), John and Stephen (Victoria), his grandchildren Jessica, Katelyn, James, Courtney, Brittany, Natasha, Brad, Chris, Alyssa, Daniel, Cody, Ashley and Taylor and many great-grandchildren. Dan also leaves to mourn his brother Melvin (Ida) and sisters Kathleen (Graham) and Elaine (David) and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dan was born and raised on Prince Edward Island. As a young man, made his way to New Brunswick where he met his soon to be wife Diane. They had three children before heading west to Victoria, BC working in the ship yard and then to Gold River in 1969, working at the pulp mill where they soon had two more children.

In 1972, Dan moved his family to Campbell River where he would build his first welding ship and start his next adventure; always looking for the next challenge, it did not take long and decided to try his hand at logging, which he did for many years, taking him all over Vancouver Island and surrounding islands as well as a few ventures up into the interior of BC. Dan, in his spare time, always played music and when he retired, music became his next adventure traveling around with friends to music festivals and taking in workshops and in the last few years, playing at retirement homes, senior centres and so many other events.

A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Campbell River Hospital, Dr. Selden, nurses Lucas, Linda and Marie for their compassion and kindness

“Music is forever; music should grow and mature with you, following you right on up until you die.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Campbell River, BC.
