LEE,

Christina, Margaret

December 24, 1920 -

July 20, 2003

Peacefully, as dawn broke on Sunday, July 20, 2003, with her children at her side, Chris’s spirit left to rejoin her grandson Troy and other family and friends who have gone before.

With great sorrow we say goodbye to Chris - wife of 60 years to George; mother to Ken (Beverley) Lee, Linda (Bill), Murray and Sandy (Wayne) Rayner; grandmother to Jennifer, Debra & Kathleen, Troy & Christopher, and Erin & Michael; great grandmother to Matthew & Lucas and Keely, Sophie & Christian; sister to Irene (Ned), Tobey and Doreen (Henry) Ewert; sister-in-law to Arlene (Russ) Mennell and Gwen (Gordon) Triplett; aunt; great aunt and friend.

Chris was born December 24, 1920, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Alfred Charles and Margaret Blaylock (Appleby) Miller and moved at a young age to Ocean Fall, B.C. On March 5, 1943 she married George Dwight Lee and made a home in Ocean Falls for them and the three children that followed. In 1957, Chris and her family came to Campbell River with George’s transfer to Elk Falls and this remained her home until she moved to the Cumberland Health Centre in 2002.

Chris was creative all her life - sewing, knitting, ceramics, crafts and quilting - and greatly enjoyed time spent with her friends and family in these pursuits. She was lucky at fishing; barely tolerated cats; and rarely lost her temper. A gentle woman and a kind soul, she welcomed each successive grandchild, and then great grandchild, into her heart and loved to visit with them. She brought much to our lives that we will miss but always remember.

Chris’s family greatly appreciates the compassionate care provided by the nurses and staff of the Cumberland Health Centre and particularly their support and kindness over her last few days. A special thanks to Marina (People at Home) for helping George maintain regular visits with Chris over the past year and a half; this meant so much to us all.

Private family arrangements entrusted to ISLAND FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 103-909 ISLAND HIGHWAY, CAMPBELL RIVER. If you wish to remember Chris, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., #20 - 601 West Cordova Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6B 1G1 or any charity of your choice.
