Charles William "Chuck" Saults

September 12, 2022

November 27, 1931 - September 12, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles William "Chuck" Saults on September 12th, 2022, age 90.
Chuck was born on November 27th, 1931 in Calgary, Alberta to Florence and William Saults.
Chuck moved to Campbell River in 1951, working on the construction of the Crown Zellerbach mill before beginning his 34-year career working on the paper machines, ending with his retirement as Foreman in 1986.
Throughout his retirement, Chuck shared his love of travel and music with Freddi and they made many friends during their world travels together. Chuck had a great sense of humour and enjoyed many other interests, including curling, woodworking, gardening, dancing, and playing card games with family and friends. He was a proud member of the CR Kinsmen Club, a 60-plus year member of the Discovery Masonic Lodge, and a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Chuck had a long history with the District of Campbell River starting in 1960, proudly serving as an Alderman for 8 years and as a member of the Board of Variance for 35 years, as well as volunteering on various other committees over the years. In 2008, Chuck's dedication to the community culminated in him being completely surprised by the Campbell River City Council presenting him with the "Community Builder Award", an honour that meant the world to him.
One of the kindest souls you could ever meet, Chuck will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, fun-loving spirit, positive attitude, and love for his family and community.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, partner and best friend of 49 years, Winnifred "Freddi" Saults; daughters Cory Schuck and Leslie Campbell; step-children John Bradey, Elinor Warner, Carolyn (Victor) Bell, and Laura (Keith) Bradey; grandchildren Michael (Allie) Schuck, Vanessa (Klayton) Toner, Christopher Campbell, Angela Campbell, Adam Warner and Shelby Warner; great-grandchildren Atlee, Nova, Declan, Ava, Ella and Addilyn, as well as a treasured circle of extended family and friends.
Our family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Discovery Harbour Care Centre, the 3D Care Team at North Island Hospital, and Dr. Jim Proctor for their care and compassion for Chuck. We are thankful for the friends Chuck made while he was in care and we also extend our gratitude to our family and friends who have been so loving and supportive to all of us during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers and in honour of Chuck's love of animals, please consider making a donation to the BC Guide Dogs ( or a favourite charity of your choice.
Always loved & never forgotten.
Rest in Peace.
