It is with deep sorrow that Charlie's family announces his passing as a result of heart failure, at the age of 74.

He is survived by his loving wife Juanita and their children Cody and Kristy-Leigh; his sons Danny (Maryse) of Victoria, Charles Jr. of Courtenay and David (Carol) of Port Alberni; daughters Marie (Ken) McColl of Courtenay, Dallas of Alberta, Jeanette (Juan) Moreno and Marion (Brad) of Nanaimo, Beverly (Lloyd) of Neah Bay, WA; and 18 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Derek (Donna) of Black Creek; sisters Betty of Quadra Island, Ellen (Barry) Nelson of Campbell River, Marion (Tim) Lindsay of Sayward, and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his father John, his mother Hillagonda, his previous wives Donna and Diane, his partner Christine, and his daughter Evelyn.

Charlie was born at Peace River, Alberta. After living several years at Port Moody, BC, in 1941 his family moved to Owen Bay on Sonora Island. In the early 1950s, he began working on tugboats. In the following years he worked at Elk Falls Mill then fished on the west coast aboard his boats Sherrill Lynn and Ocean Harvest. In 1979, he decided to leave the sea and started working for Mac & Blo at Eve River where he remained until his retirement.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Saturday, April 21st at the Band Hall on the Homalco Reserve, 1218 Bute Crescent, Campbell River from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
