April 15, 1923 - July 13, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that the Ross family would like to announce the passing of our beloved mother Charlein at the age of 95. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Born Norma Mae Haddon on April 15th 1923 in Vancouver B.C. She was one of three girls in her family, she being the youngest. She was the last surviving of her siblings until her death Friday July 13th 2018.
Mom had a turbulent childhood with her mother dying at an early age and found comfort with her dear friend Eva that supported her through those tough times. She met our father Jim in the aircraft industry during the war efforts and fell in love, eventually moving to Campbell River in 1950 where they raised three children together Bonny, Darline, and Dwayne. As children we had a very stable upbringing thanks to our mother and father and only lived in two houses for our whole lives. We could not have asked for anything more. Mom worked down at the Tyee Plazaat Robinsons Store for many years during the 70's as the candy counter pro. Which she took great pride in. But mom wore many hats during her years with us and touched many people lives along the way.
Our mother loved the life she led and had an outlook towards it that everyone admired. Rarely a sad face, always happy, always ready to go on a cruise or spend quality time with the family she dearly loved. Her friends meant everything to her as well, and grew close bonds with many of them until the end. Our mother was very fashion conscious and always dressed classy and was always told she looked many years younger than her age. In short...she was a go getter, a rock in everyone's life, and independent until the end...that was Charlein Ross.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Lloyd (Jim) R. Ross and sisters Thelma and Dorothy. She is survived by her three Children Bonny, Darline and Dwayne Grand Children... Bradly, Katie, Shawna, Erin, Allison, Stacey, Tammy and Great Grand Children Clyde, Mike, Liam, Abel, and Haddie.
Many thanks to all her extended family members for their support and their efforts to come and see her from far away...that was unreal...Thank you big time. The Ross Family would like to thank all Moms Friends for their unbelievable support in the last weeks of her life, you all know that mom deeply appreciated all your kindness, thank you!
Thanks to the nursing staff at Ironwood Place for their unwavering support and thank you to Kelly Ross for your kindness towards Mom. A heartfelt thanks to all the nursing Staff that cared for Mom on 3B, you all became her friend... Thank you.
Thanks to all the Perks Donuts Staff for being so kind to our Mom...And special thanks to Sylvia Clarke for making my mom her last dinner of Vegetable Soup that Mom requested specifically, Thank You!!
