Alfred Edward

1917~2004

Alfred Edward Milsted passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Cortes Island home on September 8, 2004. The excellent medical attention and home care support Alf received in his final years enabled him to remain in his home to the end, surrounded by his many friends. Alf was predeceased by his dear wife, Pierrette, and by his brother Charlie. He is survived by his niece Anne Wing and family, his nephew Kenneth Milsted, and Pierrette’s extended family.

Alf was a man of many talents and lived a wonderfully diverse coastal life. He was born in North Vancouver and lost his Dad at a young age. He was the owner of several successful small businesses including an egg production operation in North Vancouver and a general store at Coal Harbour. He worked for many years as a sheet metal worker in the Vancouver shipyards, ran a coastal supply ship, the Echo III, between Vancouver and Port Hardy, and was highly skilled in log house construction. But his greatest talent was making lasting friendships. Alf will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his many friends acquired throughout his long and highly successful life along the BC coast.

At his request, no service will be held. Donations to the Cortes Community Health Association in Alf’s memory would greatly please him.
