Vehicles roll over in Highway 19 collision

Three vehicles were travelling southbound on Highway 19 just north of Browns Bay

An attempt to pass two vehicles resulted in a collision and rollover on Highway 19 just north of Brown’s Bay on Saturday.

Around 2 p.m. that day, three vehicles were travelling southbound on Highway 19 just north of Browns Bay, Campbell River RCMP spokesperson Const. Sara Clark said.

When the vehicles reached a section with a single broken yellow line, the last vehicle pulled into the northbound lane to pass the two vehicles ahead of them. The northbound lane was clear and it was safe to do so, Const. Clark said. While in the northbound lane, the passing vehicle veered in front of the second vehicle causing both vehicles to collide and roll over.

One driver was trapped inside the vehicle and required extraction. Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
