SD72 committee appointments and trustee representatives

School District 72 (SD72) needs to have a trustee on both the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) and the BC School Trustees’ Association (BCSTA) Provincial council, and those representatives were both selected at Tuesday’s public meeting of the board.

Trustee Richard Franklin was elected board representative to the BCPSEA and chairperson Susan Wilson was elected as the BCSTA Provincial Council representative.

Both these positions were elected by acclimation.

“These are extra time commitments and they are also important ways for our local board to stay connected to the larger provincial movements in these different areas and then to bring back that information to the board,” Wilson said after being acclaimed. “So it’s certainly an important role to be able to fulfil.”

The board also announced their trustee appointments to various committees for 2016 Tuesday.

Vice-Chair Ted Foster and Trustee John Kerr will represent the Board on the district’s audit and risk management committee.

Trustees Kerr and Wilson will be responsible for public communications.

Trustee Richard Franklin will serve as the board governance representative.

Trustees Gail Kirchner and Daryl Hagen will represent the board on the district’s Calendar Consultation Committee.

Trustees Daryl Hagen and Joyce McMann will represent the board on the district’s Core Pro-D Committee.

Board Chair Wilson and Vice-Chair Foster will serve as board representatives on the City of Campbell River, North Island College and Campbell River District Teachers’ Association Liaison Committees.

Trustee McMann will also serve as the board liaison to the District Parent Advisory Council.

Trustee Gail Kirchner will represent the Board at the Vancouver Island School Trustees’ Association, and Trustee Kerr will also represent the board at the Vancouver Island Labour Relations Council.
