A two vehicle collision near Roberts Lake sent two people to hospital over the weekend.
Sayward RCMP and North Island Traffic Services responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on the Island Highway near Robert’s Lake at about 11 a.m. on Saturday.
According to a news release from Sayward RCMP, both drivers were hospitalized as a result of their injuries.
The driver of a Toyota pick up, a 36-year-old man from Cumberland, was airlifted to a Victoria area hospital with serious injuries.
A 29-year-old Victoria man driving the second vehicle, a GMC Sierra pick-up, was transported to Campbell River hospital via ambulance, but was later released. Neither vehicle had passengers.
“Fresh snow – slippery conditions definitely contributed to it (the accident),” said North Island Traffic Services’ Sgt. Mark Whitworth.
