The Mounties almost always get their man.
This one was easier than most.
On Aug. 6, a member of the RCMP Musical Ride was in Campbell River, en route to the horse riding show in Port Hardy, when he stopped at Shopper’s Drug Mart in the Tyee Plaza to pick up a few things.
While he was there, a man well-known to local police was also there and stole a laptop computer.
However, the thief didn’t seem to notice the officer who was in full ceremonial dress also known as the “red serge.”
The Mountie was alerted to the theft, gave chase and caught the culprit until local officers arrived.
The computer was recovered and police also found the thief was carrying some marijuana.
The man is currently on a probation order. He is facing charges of theft, possession of a controlled substance and breach of a court order. His name was not released.
